Open Exhibitions 2022 (part one)

It’s always rather exciting when a piece submitted to an open exhibition is accepted, especially when the exhibition is in central London. (The downside of this is that it is necessary to visit central London.)

I was delighted to get Here be Dragons into the Society for Graphic Fine Art (SGFA, aka The Drawing Society)’s 101st Open Exhibition this year (2022), at the Mall Galleries in London. It is the second year that I have exhibited with the society but the first that I have attended a preview for (there was a preview last year but numbers were restricted due to Covid precautions. I visited the 2021 exhibition a little later in its run and everything was eerily half-empty, from the trains to the streets to the galleries). I enjoyed the preview this year.

At the same time as the SGFA exhibition, I also had two pieces in the Red House Museum Open Art Exhibition 2022 in Christchurch, Hampshire. One of the two, Palisade, won the Friends’ Choice Award, which was a lovely surprise.
