Knave – SOLD

This is based on Church Lane in Witley, near Godalming in Surrey. The road is a spectacular sunken lane or holloway that begins almost before it has left the substantial village. There is a footpath on the high ground to the left which also has a certain arboreal charm. The title is an oblique reference to the name of the road (which is, indeed, the address of the the village church) and a vague perceived resemblance to the inside of a church, but I added a “k” because it felt right.

Ink on kaolin-coated board, 16×12″.
