This is the wall of rock that rises from the sunken road’s surface to the viewpoint of Multistorey. The title, Elevation, refers to the elevated pathway above it as well as to its verticality (a plan drawing lays out the detail of a horizontal surface such as a floor; an elevation drawing does the same for a vertical surface, such as a wall). I drew it on a full Imperial size sheet of handmade Sunn Hemp paper. In addition to the Indian Ink, I used a blue-green pigment ink (Rohrer & Klingner’s SketchINK “Klara”) to indicate the copious ivy on the rocks and trees, and to break up the blackness.
Elevation, ink on paper, £795. Framed.
