This year’s INSIGHT picture is a new drawing of an old favourite subject. There is a little group of beech trees on the henge at Avebury, Wiltshire that have a particularly impressive set of roots visible. I think that they are called the three sisters – but there are four of them, so maybe I got that wrong. Regardless, these trees are partly responsible for my fascination with exposed roots.
At 50 x 70cm (paper size), this is the largest drawing that I have done of them – see also The Avebury Dragon, Dragon Roots, Henge.
Interwoven, ink on paper, framed.
