I very seldom reuse a source photograph, but I did here. The photograph was taken in 2018 and I used it that year to make Hanging Ash, a monochrome ink on kaolin-coated board, a drawing that was subsequently sold at an art fair.
The bluff in the photograph is on the side of a minor road, a sunken lane, near Selborne in East Hampshire. It’s been a particularly useful bluff; it has also provided reference for Overhang and Arched.
This drawing uses colour and is on paper – a full imperial sheet (30×22″ or 76x56cm) of 100% cotton watercolour paper, deckled edges and all. It is all done in ink. I’ve float-framed it in a dark grey frame.
