Exuberant is a drawing in document ink using pen and ink wash. It uses the same inks as Procession (albeit with different techniques) and is on a slightly smaller sheet of paper (it is 50x70cm, 100% cotton watercolour paper). Like Procession, it was started before I had rounded out my collection of the document inks to include blue, and like Procession, it benefitted hugely from the addition of blue, as can be seen by comparing the in progress shot (before blue), below, with the finished drawing (after blue), above.
The subject is a grown out laid ash hedge, alongside a footpath in my local area. I used the randomness of ink splats to recall the profusion of herbacious growth.
